Missing

You know, I've just been surfing around my friendster and reading through all my testimonials and I suddenly feel weird. It's like I really missed those days back then. Friends of the past, of the present. Reading their testimonials just made me feel all funny inside.

I MISS.......

1. The primary school days.
Lower primary wasn't big event to me. Except that I've always hung around this guy. Wei Chin. Smart intelligent guy. Went to the same primary 3 class. Got to know Darren Leow and Jonathan Liew. We always hung around together. Until MOE made us sit for the GEP thing. They were the smart ones and were transferred away. Me, being the un-intelligent of the lot, stayed behind. Got to primary 5. And things weren't really much of a thing to remember. Primary 6 was the one that was most memorable. A simply letter dropped on the floor, led to new friendships being formed. Sarcasm thrown at one another resulted in being the best of friends where we hung around. Jiamin, Karen, Tony, Joyce, Garrick. Lovely people. But after the release of the PSLE results, we're seperated. And we slowly lost contact with one another...

2. The primary school band days.
I still remembered clearly that my parents enrolled me for band during the primary 1 orientation. But I was only called up to join in primary 2. At that time, I knew nuts about music. Was assigned a trumpet mouthpiece. My teacher said I would most probably go to trombone. (I didn't know what a trombone was then). So I practiced buzzing it everyday for 2 weeks. At the end of 2 weeks, my teacher heard me buzzed well and was assigned a cornet (which I thought was a trombone but realised it's not after a while). I was so elated, I went around telling everyone my great sense of achievement of getting an instrument within 2 weeks. (Yeah.. Big deal for primary 2 kid).

3. The lower secondary school days.
In lower sec, as we all know, our cliques are always changing. One moment we're with this group, the next, we're with another. Sherry, Yushan, Alvina, Janice, Kenneth were of the people I always hung around with. Playing 'slap on the back' game to tickling each other. Sherry, the motherlike figure of the lot, always helps keep my tables prim and proper. Alvina and Janice, the girls who stay within the same block, pretty girls I must say. Had trouble differentiating them who was who for the 1st 3 months during my sec 1 days. (Yes, I'm super blur). Yushan, the laughing queen.. Always laughing at every single thing possible. Even right till now.. Kenneth, the suai-ge. Always chased by girls all over school. Darn envious. But then, came the streaming. We were all seperated into different classes. Only me and Alvina went up to the same class.

4. The upper secondary school days.
Somehow, my life in upper sec didn't click well with guys. Gals were my closest friends around. The bitching clique (Serene and Nicole) and the Mo Jia+ friends ( Alvina, Karen, Xin Rong, Dionne, Jessica, Yan Han). Life with the bitching clique was fun. Put us together and we can never stop talking. We really talked about everything under the sun. Serene know everything about me. All the fun, joy, laughter tears were mostly spent with her. Things with Mo Jia were a bit different. We do our work together, we go home together (coz we're all staying in the same area). I always turn to Karen and Yan Han for help with work(the smarter ones) and Alvina and Xin Rong for Christmas shopping, CNY shopping, etc.. I still remember those days in sec 1. Where Karen and I used to fight with each other every single day. Put us together and the whole class would be filled with our shouts. Never did I expect us to be the best of friends now. Friendship works in funny ways. Somehow, after the O levels, the Mo Jia have been split up. Yan Han and Karen went to AJC, Jessica to PJC. Alvina and Xin Rong went to SP. Only me and Dionne ended up in NP together with my bitching clique. Now, even though I'm in the same school as Serene and Nicole, finding time to meet up is tough, much less meet up with the Mo Jia. Sigh. I really miss those people.

5. The secondary school band days.
Joining band was the only thing on my mind since I stepped into school. Was actually asked to go to horn section but I insisted I wanted to be in trumpet. And there I was in trumpet. But little did I expect, I was transferred to horn for my first and my last syf. Remembered stuffs that caused hoo haa in band... Getting close to people due to certain events. (Hor, Melinda?) The times when I tekan my juniors.. Having fun with my peers. Making good friends with people like Melinda, Johan, Kelyn, Chin Yan, Gregory... Really wanna go back many times.. But many factors that hold me back from doing so.. Miss my juniors. Wonder how my section is doing now..

6. Poly days.
I'm really fortunate to be in my class. We more or less hang around each other for lunch, lectures and stuffs. Other classes are clearly split into cliques. But we're rather united. I'm missing them.. Glad school's reopening... Miss my classmates, miss school...

7. Poly band days
I never did imagine myself joining band again. I almost went to strings. But somehow, I ended up going for band for the first practice. I thought once the day was over, I would never be coming back to NPCB. But who knows. When I played Harry Potter with the section, I was called to perform for PnC when I managed to hit high A. Then on, 2 weeks passed very fast. The concert was over. Slowly, I got closer to my section mates, knew more people. Made new friends. Then came WASBE. Came and gone. Soon, Rondeau XX would be over too. Amanda, Peee, Leen, Law Fatt, Nicholas would all be graduating. Horn section would never be the same again. No more loud blasts and vulgar languages from Law Fatt. No more high pitched laughter from Amanda. No more Leen's caring, nanny sorta voice. No more Peeee to have fun with. No more Nicholas's wise words of knowledge for music. In other words, no more horn section like it used to be. Seniors will all be gone. No more NPCB like it's used to be.

Sad cases aren't they? But life still has to move on. I hope.
